Dharwad, Aug. 12: “Just as water, air, light and food are important for human survival, so too can books help in inculcating human values. If children make good use of the library, they can grow into good citizens,” said teacher Smt. Shubhamangala. She spoke as the spokesperson for the National Library Day held at Rashtrotthana Vidya Kendra – Dharwad, Neeralkatti. On this occasion, the father of libraries, S. R. Ranganathan, was remembered.
- Student Atharva Kulkarni spoke on the topic ‘S. R. Ranganathan’s contribution to the library sector’.
- Magazine writing, poetry writing, creative writing, book review competitions were organised especially for children on this day.
- Prizes were distributed to the winners of the competitions on this occasion.
- The prize distribution was conducted by Sri Srikanth Kumbara.
- Vadiraj Desai, who read the most books in an academic year, i.e. 63, won the ‘Reader of the Year’ award.
- On this occasion, the birth anniversary of Vikram Sarabhai was celebrated.
- Student Bhuvan Sanganalmath spoke on the topic ‘Life and Achievements of Vikram Sarabhai’.
ಧಾರವಾಡ, ಆ. 12: “ಮನುಷ್ಯ ಬದುಕಲು ನೀರು, ಗಾಳಿ, ಬೆಳಕು ಮತ್ತು ಆಹಾರ ಹೇಗೆ ಮುಖ್ಯವೋ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಮಾನವೀಯ ಮೌಲ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ರೂಢಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಅದು ಪುಸ್ತಕಗಳಿಂದ ಮಾತ್ರ ಸಾಧ್ಯ. ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಗ್ರಂಥಾಲಯದ ಸದುಪಯೋಗಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡರೆ ಸತ್ಪ್ರಜೆಗಳಾಗಿ ಬೆಳೆಯಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯ” ಎಂದು ಶಿಕ್ಷಕಿ ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಶುಭಮಂಗಳಾ ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯಪಟ್ಟರು. ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೋತ್ಥಾನ ವಿದ್ಯಾಕೇಂದ್ರ – ಧಾರವಾಡ, ನೀರಲಕಟ್ಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಗ್ರಂಥಾಲಯ ದಿನದ ವಕ್ತಾರರಾಗಿ ಅವರು ಮಾತನಾಡಿದರು. ಇದೇ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಗ್ರಂಥಾಲಯ ಪಿತಾಮಹರಾದ ಎಸ್. ಆರ್. ರಂಗನಾಥನ್ ಅವರನ್ನು ಸ್ಮರಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.
- ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿ ಅಥರ್ವ ಕುಲಕರ್ಣಿ ‘ಗ್ರಂಥಾಲಯ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ಎಸ್. ಆರ್. ರಂಗನಾಥರ ಕೊಡುಗೆ’ ಎಂಬ ವಿಷಯದ ಕುರಿತು ಮಾತನಾಡಿದನು.
- ಈ ದಿನದ ವಿಶೇಷವಾಗಿ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗಾಗಿ ಮ್ಯಾಗ್ಜಿನ್ ರಚನೆ, ಕವನ ರಚನೆ, ಸೃಜನಶೀಲ ಬರವಣಿಗೆ, ಪುಸ್ತಕ ವಿಮರ್ಶೆ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆಯನ್ನು ಹಮ್ಮಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲಾಗಿತ್ತು.
- ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಜೇತರಾದ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಈ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಹುಮಾನವನ್ನು ವಿತರಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.
- ಬಹುಮಾನ ವಿತರಣೆಯನ್ನು ಶ್ರೀ ಶ್ರೀಕಾಂತ ಕುಂಬಾರ ನಡೆಸಿಕೊಟ್ಟರು.
- ಒಂದು ಶೈಕ್ಷಣಿಕ ವರ್ಷದಲ್ಲಿ ಅತಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಅಂದರೆ 63 ಪುಸ್ತಕಗಳನ್ನು ಓದಿದ ವಾದಿರಾಜ ದೇಸಾಯಿ ‘ವರ್ಷದ ಓದುಗ’ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಪಡೆದುಕೊಂಡರು.
- ಇದೇ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಕ್ರಂ ಸಾರಾಭಾಯಿ ಜನ್ಮದಿನಾಚರಣೆಯನ್ನು ಆಚರಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.
- ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿ ಭುವನ ಸಂಗನಾಳಮಠ ‘ವಿಕ್ರಂ ಸಾರಾಭಾಯಿಯವರ ಜೀವನ ಮತ್ತು ಸಾಧನೆ’ ಎಂಬ ವಿಷಯದ ಕುರಿತು ಮಾತನಾಡಿದನು.
